Ultrasound Services
Ultrasound is a safe, painless imaging tool used throughout obstetric and gynecologic care. Whether confirming a pregnancy, monitoring fetal growth, or evaluating pelvic symptoms, ultrasound provides clear, real-time images that guide accurate diagnosis and treatment.
At Legacy For Women in Henderson, NV, we offer in-office ultrasound services performed by skilled technicians and reviewed by your provider. This ensures you receive fast, reliable results and personalized explanations during your visit.
What Is an Ultrasound?
An ultrasound, also called a sonogram, uses high-frequency sound waves to create live images of the body’s internal structures. It is a safe and noninvasive test that helps your provider evaluate and monitor your health.
Ultrasound may be recommended to:
- Confirm and date a pregnancy
- Monitor fetal growth and development
- Evaluate pelvic pain, bleeding, or irregular periods
- Detect ovarian cysts, fibroids, or uterine abnormalities
- Guide certain procedures, such as IUD placement or biopsies
Because ultrasound does not use radiation, it is safe for both pregnant and non-pregnant patients.
Types of Ultrasound We Offer
1. Transabdominal Ultrasound
Performed over the abdomen and often used during pregnancy or for general pelvic evaluation.
2. Transvaginal Ultrasound
A small probe is gently inserted into the vagina to provide a closer, more detailed view of pelvic organs. Commonly used in early pregnancy or when detailed imaging is needed.
3. Obstetric Ultrasound
Used during pregnancy to monitor fetal anatomy, growth, and position, as well as amniotic fluid levels. Includes dating scans, anatomy scans (around 20 weeks), and biophysical profiles when indicated.
4. Gynecologic Ultrasound
Evaluates the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and endometrial lining to help diagnose or monitor conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, or PCOS.
When Is an Ultrasound Recommended?
Ultrasound can be part of both preventive care and diagnostic evaluation. Your provider may recommend an ultrasound to:
- Confirm early pregnancy and check fetal heartbeat
- Track fetal growth and development
- Investigate abnormal bleeding or pelvic pain
- Monitor known gynecologic conditions
- Evaluate fertility or ovulation patterns
- Assess postmenopausal symptoms or pelvic changes
The type and timing of ultrasound depend on your medical history, symptoms, and stage of care.
What to Expect During Your Ultrasound
Ultrasound exams are comfortable and performed in a private, relaxed environment. Here’s what you can expect:
- You may be asked to arrive with a full bladder for certain scans (especially early pregnancy or pelvic ultrasounds).
- A warm gel will be applied to the skin or probe to allow sound waves to travel clearly.
- The exam usually lasts 15–30 minutes and requires no recovery time.
- You can resume normal activities immediately after your appointment.
Your provider will review the results with you the same day, explaining what was seen and any next steps that may be recommended.

Having ultrasound services on-site offers convenience and continuity of care. Benefits include:
- Immediate results and interpretation
- Direct communication with your provider
- Faster diagnosis and treatment planning
- Fewer outside referrals or appointments
- Added reassurance during pregnancy and ongoing care
